Tolo Education
Quality and play value are at the heart of every Tolo product
Group settings in schools and kindergartens are the hardest test a toy can face. Tolo is specified by nurseries, preschools and early-years suppliers because Tolo toys keep working year after year — and because every set comes with what your staff need to use it well.

Tolo Classic · 3 months – 3 years
The first three years, one skill at a time
Rattles, cause-and-effect toys, vehicles, sorters and water play for the baby and toddler room.

First Friends · 1 – 5 years
Learning about our world
Characters, animals, vehicles and buildings for role play, language and understanding the world. More sets are on the way.

What comes with every set
Open-ended play
Most educational toys arrive with a themed box and a sentence about motor skills. What a practitioner is short of is not a label. It is a practical activity staff can use with a group: with how many children, what to do, how to make it easier or harder, and what to look for. Every Tolo set carries that layer.
Every set is named for what the child will be able to do — and comes with the activities that get them there.
1 · Set sheet
One page, everything on it
Contents with article numbers, age band, what children learn in six skill areas, topic links, and three things to try on day one.
2 · Activity cards
Explore → structure → challenge
Activity cards for every set at three levels of difficulty. Each card states group size, what you need, four steps, an easier and a harder version, and what to watch for.
3 · Group size stated
1:1 · pairs · small group · whole room
Nurseries run one-to-one, pairs, small groups and continuous provision. Every set says which it serves — and in what quantity.
4 · Age rail
One set, five years of play
What the same set does for a 9-month-old, a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old, so one purchase serves a room across changing groups of children.
5 · Areas of learning
Ready for your planning
Physical · Communication & language · Personal, social & emotional · Understanding the world · Mathematics · Expressive arts. Observation prompts on every card.
6 · Replacement parts
A lost figure does not mean the whole set needs replacing
Every figure and vehicle is available on its own. Sets stay complete for years — one reason Tolo works so well in shared settings.
“I particularly value how Tolo allows children to explore, experiment and discover at their own pace. The toys introduce colour, sound and shapes in an engaging way, while puzzles and stacking toys encourage coordination, concentration and cognitive development.”

Every set, one teacher pack
Classroom Activity Guide for Teachers
Every Tolo set comes with a one-page set sheet and a four-page teacher pack: what is in the box, what children learn, and activity cards your staff can run, repeat and observe against.
- Set sheet — contents, ages, skills, three things to try on day one
- Activity cards — group size, four steps, easier and harder, what to look for
- One set, five years of play — the same set from the first months to 5 years
Range 1 · Tolo Classic · 3 months – 3 years
The first three years, one skill at a time
The baby and toddler room is the room that is hardest to equip well and the one most ranges skip. Classic is built for it: single-purpose toys that do one developmental job clearly, survive mouthing, sand and the water tray, and still keep children engaged over repeated use.
In the setting
No batteries, no small parts, no fabric, nothing to replace
Cleaning
Wipe clean — fine for sand and water play
Storage
Stores flat in one shallow tray; children tidy it themselves
Made
One-piece mouldings, minimal print, smooth edges
Five developmental jobs Classic does

Reach, grasp, shake
Hold on, pass hand to hand, then shake to make a chosen sound. Pincer grip and first sounds.
Rattles · Shaker, Bird & Teddy

Do it, expect it, do it again
A push always makes it move; a knock always brings it back. The clearest early lesson in prediction.
Shaker, Bird & Teddy · every vehicle

Push it and watch where it goes
Tracking, fast and slow, loading and counting, vehicles and their jobs — rich vocabulary with no worksheet.
The Baby Vehicle sets

Give it somewhere to go
A ramp, a lift and a wash turn pushing into a journey a child can narrate, in order.
Garage set

Sort, stack, fit — and pour
Shape sorters, stackers and bath toys from the Classic range complete a toddler room. Ask for them in a proposal.
Classic range · on request

Range 2 · First Friends · 1 – 5 years
Learning about our world
First Friends is one system: every figure fits every vehicle and every building, so a farm, a hospital and a polar station are the same characters in different play themes. That is what makes it a resource for the preschool room rather than a shelf of toys — one learning theme, then another, with the same set.
The figures
12.5 cm, clicking moving arms and legs, squeaker tummies
One system
Every figure fits every First Friends vehicle, seat and building
Cleaning
Wipe clean; the polar whale floats and squirts
Replacement
Every figure, animal and vehicle available individually
Five things First Friends is for

Communication skills
Name the vehicle, the animal, the job. Give the figure a voice. Children pick up the words that belong to the play theme.
Every set

Playing together
Turn taking, negotiating roles, family, feelings. Who is who, and who helps whom.
The Family · Play House · Hospital

Learning about our world
People who help us, farm life, polar world, prehistoric life, health care, our street — each set is a topic a teacher already plans.
Every First Friends set

Count and sort
Animals by habitat, size or kind; figures on and off a truck. Sort by an obvious rule, then a given rule, then your own.
Farm · Safari · Polar · Dinosaur

Open ended play
A rescue from call to hospital, a farm day in order, a waste-collection route through the neighbourhood. Sequence it, then retell it.
