Baby with Crib

A little First Friends Baby with its own rocker to complete the family. The baby has a clicking head and moving arms and legs, and both baby and rocker can be set in different positions. Children lift the baby in and out, rock it gently and take on the caring role, talking about feeding, cuddling and looking after a baby. At home it plays in the living room; in a nursery or classroom it is made for group play.

How to play and learn

1Introduce your child to the First Friends Baby and Rocker by letting the pieces be handled and explored independently - help your child to discover Baby's moving clicking parts if necessary, and how the baby can be rocked in the rocker
2Talk with your child about when they were a little baby - tell them the things you had to do to look after them - feeding, cuddling, burping etc.
3Encourage your child to look after the baby - especially if they have a younger sibling, or one on the way!
4The baby and rocker is an ideal addition to the First Friends Family and Play House - assist your child to arrange the items in the house and encourage independent play time
18 MONTHS +
5Encourage your child to arrange the items by themselves whether as a stand alone scene, or as elements in the First Friends Play House
6You may like to introduce other First Friends characters and family members to assist looking after baby!
7Encourage your child to talk about babies - what they do, and how we need to look after them
8Introduce your younger child to simple vocabulary such as ‘happy’ ‘baby’ ‘rocking’ ‘gentle’ etc
9Encourage lots of pretend play with the baby - let your child take the lead but assist with ideas if necessary.
10You may like to bring in other characters and family members to create imaginative family fun!
